9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.

The 3-day intensive workshop is for those who want to discover or renew their passion for acrylic abstract painting. Designed for intermediate to advanced students, this workshop will awaken and inspire you as an artist and will provide you with individual instruction to help you meet your creative goals.  I have 20 years of painting experience and will share my tried and true painting techniques and methods that I use in my own art making.  Since the workshop is limited to 4 participants, you will get ample one-on-one attention, as well as the benefit of a small group environment that will accelerate your creativity. By the end of the workshop, you will learn new ideas and techniques, and will feel excited about the limitless world of abstract painting.  Participants will also have the option to learn how to create a digital portfolio using Microsoft Publisher, write a strong artist statement and biography, and draft a compelling letter/email to gallery owners for representation.

In this workshop you will learn how to:

  • Create unique textures and painting effects using a wide variety of materials and tools
  • Produce stunning effects in your paintings using household items
  • Apply principles of color theory that will bring sophistication to your artwork
  • Develop your own personal style
  • Create authentic artwork by staying in an open-minded and receptive state of mind
  • Move past creative blocks with ease and success
  • Keep your art interesting and inspired
  • Critique your own and others’ work
  • Have fun with your work and engage with it as “purposeful play”
  • Write an artist biography, statement, CV, and letter to a gallery

Workshop Includes:

  • Acrylic paints, mediums, palette knives, and brushes
  • 4 canvases of various sizes per student

“Thanks so much for a memorably relaxing and informative 3-day intensive.  You definitely are a teacher….instructive, patient, encouraging, non-judgmental.  Again, thanks so much!”–JC.  June 19, 2017

“Working with Andrea is pure joy. The information and guidance Andrea offers is exactly what I was hoping for. The studio is a wonderful place to work and to feel inspired. I highly recommend Andrea to anyone who wishes to learn abstract painting.”—L.M.  July 5, 2016

“One of the reasons I loved working with Andrea was because she asked me what I wanted from my session with her.  She did not have any preconceived idea about composition, perspective, color, etc., or how the lesson should go, but provided the direction I needed.  I appreciate that Andrea is an intuitive artist so she totally got how I work.  She also supplied the canvas, tools and acrylics for the session, which saved me a lot of time since working in this medium was a first.  I look forward to my next lesson!”–Malika H.  December 21, 2012
